As a personal safety company, we believe strongly in the safety, security and privacy of your data. You can relax knowing that we're registered with the Information Commissioner, and that we're very strict about complying with the UK Data Protection Act 1998. Please read on for a summary of our privacy policy, including details of the information we collect from you and how we look after it. For further information, please see our Legal page.
The information we collect
When you register, we ask you for some personal details so that we can provide you with the textyouhome™ service. We need to know who you are, your contact details and the contact details for the people you want us to get hold of in case of emergency. We also ask you to set a password so that we're sure it's you who tells us when you're safe and sound. We'll retain your information for a reasonable period, or as long as we're required to by law.
You'll also need to provide your payment details, although these will be provided to a secure, specialist payment processor (Sage Pay), and will not be held by Text You Home.
How we protect your information
We follow tight security procedures to protect your personal information against loss or unauthorised access. The computers that store the information are kept in a secure facility with restricted physical access. We also protect your data against electronic access through the use of security firewalls and encryption.
Who else is involved?
We won't pass on your data to any third parties for marketing purposes. However, we may contact you by email from time to time with personal safety advice, and with information about your account, including any additional services or promotions that may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive any emails from us (other than essential account servicing emails), you can opt out by sending an email stating this to info@textyouhome.com.
To provide you with the best possible service, we partner with other companies. We do this to process your payments (Sage Pay) and to send and receive text and voice messages (AQL and MX Telecom). In choosing these partners, we have checked that they have an impeccable track record when it comes to protecting data, and that they have stringent data security processes and policies. These partners may change from time to time as we strive to keep improving our service, in which case we will update this page. When we need to transfer any data to these trusted partners, we make sure that the transfer is as safe and secure as possible. We do not transfer data outside of the EU.
In the event that our business is ever sold to or merges with another business, or if we undertake a joint venture with another business, your information may be disclosed to our new business partners or owners.
